31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 25

#25 – Your 5 favorite blogs

OK, so I don’t like this idea. I can’t pick just 5 favorite blogs, so I’m just going to list some below of the ones I read the most and have gotten to know along my journey.

Finding The Skinny Geek Within –  Des is on a weight loss journey much like myself and is making great progress. She runs and also has a great love for tennis.

The Girl Who Ran Everywhere – Nicole is a marathoner and a huge inspiration for me. She has such a positive attitude and outlook on life.

Slow And Steady(ish) – Dana is another fellow runner who also has a love of soccer, much like myself. I love her wit and snarkiness.

Back At Square Zero – Abby is a hardworking teacher and runner working on staying injury-free and always improving her PRs.

Deb Runs – Deb is a personal trainer who has run all sorts of distance races and is someone I look up to that gives great running advice.

Slacker Runner – Don’t let the name fool you. Fallon trains hard and is another snarky writer that I enjoy.

Run The Great Wide Somewhere – April is another friend on a weight loss journey. She is a huge Run Disney fan and does lots of their races. It’s interesting to see an inside look at them from a runner’s perspective.

If you weren’t in this list, don’t feel slighted. I had a hard time narrowing it down, but I love all the blogs that I’ve subscribed to. Please let me know if you think there are some other good ones I should read!

#24 – Your favorite childhood book

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

I loved all the silly little poems and the pictures that went along with them. I was also a big fan of The Giving Tree as well. It was just an awesome style of writing for a young kid to read. This was before I started reading Stephen King, of course…

What were your favorite books growing up?

#23 – Your dream job

When I was a kid, I wanted to be either a veterinarian or a physical therapist. Math and science were not my strong suit, so out the door those dreams went.

I would pick something music related. I know that’s really vague, but I have no idea. Not like a promoter or something, but like a producer. I don’t have any musical skill so obviously that can never happen, but I think it would be awesome to be around music ALL. DAY. LONG. That is the only thing I can think of that I would never get sick of doing and would always like going to work.

What would be your dream job? Or do you already have it?

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 20/Face The Music Friday #67

#20 – Difficult time in your life

I can think of a few off the top of my head. First and foremost would be the deaths of my great-grandparents. We spent the majority of every summer with them at their beach house and they were some of my favorite people on the planet. I think about them often and am sad that Tara didn’t get to meet Gigi, and only met Bumpa once, in the hospital before he passed. She actually met most of that side of my family at his funeral.

There are instances I won’t talk about and then there is this latest rough patch. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and it’s very welcomed. It’s been a lot of years since a patch like this and I’m thankful for that. I’m most thankful for the people who have come through to the other side of that tunnel with me, who never leave my side.

______________________________________________________________________

Training this week was not great. I’ve been pet/house sitting for friends and it’s been tough balancing work and going back and forth between two houses while getting ready for Carry the Fallen tomorrow. I focused on the runs at least so if I skipped something it wasn’t that, but I skipped the whole end of the week. I figure I’ll make up for it by walking a marathon on Saturday!

So here it is:

Saturday – Rainy 3 mile ruck and 30 min yoga

Sunday – 9 miles

Monday – Rest

Tuesday – 3 miles

Wed, Thurs, Fri – errands and prep

Enjoy this week’s song and I’ll have an update soon on how my second Carry The Fallen went!

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 18

#18 – Meaning behind blog name

My blog name is a plethora of things. I wanted a blog that I could talk about anything. I didn’t want to specifically be in any one niche, but wanted to have a sort of guideline. I mostly talk about training, but like to geek out every now and again. Don’t Blink is a reference to Doctor Who regarding the Weeping Angels.

The Doctor likes to say “RUN!” a lot when they’re getting away from bad guys, plus I’m a runner so the Just Run portion kind of explains itself.

I don’t just obsess over Doctor Who, but one might think so based on the name!

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 17

First of all, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

#17 – Most proud moment

I would say probably kissing the Boston Marathon finish line last November when I did my first Carry The Fallen ruck march. It’s incredibly difficult walking 26.2 miles over the course of 13+ hours and it was  really emotional and powerful moment when we finally finished, as a team.

What is your proudest moment?

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 16

#16 – What’s at the top of your bucket list

Well, I think in my immediate future, it would have to be running my first full marathon. I hope to get in to the Marine Corps Marathon and started training for it in December. Yes, I know, that’s a long time to train, but if you’re as injury prone as I am, you take your time.

Long term, I would love to be able to travel more. I just don’t get enough vacation time or make enough money to go anywhere fun outside the U.S. I’ve been to Canada twice, does that count? Anyway, top of my list would be Ireland. I’ve always wanted to go there. Australia is a close second.

I suppose that will always remain on the top of my bucket list unless I hit the lottery (see day 14)!

Tell me what is at the top of your bucket list!

Day 1 and 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, Day 11, Day 12, Day 13, Day 14, Day 15
