31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 13/Face The Music Friday #66

 

#13 – Your earliest memory

I don’t remember a lot from my childhood. I’ve learned in therapy that blocking out bad memories can also block out the good. I have a horrible memory in general though, so that doesn’t really help either.

I guess thinking back, I can remember being kids at our family beach cottage and laying in the bed at the end of the hall that was sort of “my” bed when we stayed there. The beds were really just in the hallway, not an actual bedroom. Anyway, the door that closed between the living room and hallway was glass panes. When we were young and had to go to bed early, my great-grandparents would still be up watching TV. I used to angle that glass door sometimes so I could watch the TV reflection. I’m sure they probably knew what I was up to, but they let me do it anyway.

Saturday – Rest (had too many errands to do before a girls night)

Training was decent this week. I’m not sure what I’m going to do today yet because my knee is tweaking. I might just do some extra yoga days and get some good stretching and rolling in between now and my next long run Sunday. I pushed hard on Wednesday’s 6 miler and now I’m paying the price.

This week’s song choice is a current favorite of mine. Every time it comes on my playlist I love it and can’t believe I’ve waited so long to use it on the blog.

#12 – What’s in your fridge?

I find day 12 kind of lame. Does anyone really care what’s in my fridge? Really? If not, you can quit reading here. If you’re soooooo intrigued by what’s in there, by all means, keep reading.

 

 

I guess I’ll just start typing what’s in there…

Gallons of water (because our town water sucks), almond milk, various Bolthouse Farm juices, assorted condiments (the usual: ketchup, mustard, salad dressings), peanut butter, almond butter, chocolate milk, muscle milk, gatorade, OJ, chicken, spinach, celery, pineapple, grapes, broccoli, blackberries, tuna, wild rice, egg whites and cat food.

Exciting, isn’t it?

#10 – Best physical feature

I don’t like talking about my looks, but if I have to pick one, I will go with my eyes. They are hazel, I guess if you pick a basic color, but they change color based on my emotions. Tara said when I am happy they look like sunflowers.

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 9

 

#9 – Worst habits

My absolute worst habit is due to my anxiety. I chew or pick at my lower lip, resulting in a semi-permanent cut/scab on my lip. Not pretty, yet something I have a lot of trouble not doing. A lot of the time I do it without even realizing it because it has become such a habit. I always just thought it was a weird thing that only I did, but it’s more common than I realized.

I’m also not great about sitting still, especially at work when I’m forced to. I shake my knees up and down a lot, or I will swivel my chair left to right, back and forth repeatedly. Usually at home, I’m doing multiple things. I’ll watch a TV show, but be checking email or something on my iPad at the same time. It’s rare I just sit and watch something.

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 7

 

#7 – Your pet hates

This one is sort of ambiguous. Does this mean, what pets do I hate? What do I hate about my pet? What do my pets hate? So many interpretations, so I’ll answer a few.

I’m not a fan of insects, reptiles or slimy things in general. I would definitely not want a lot of the pets my brother has had like snakes and spiders.

I don’t hate anything about my pets. I will admit I dislike when they wake us up to feed them at 3am, or when Delilah has been sick and pees on the furniture, but I can’t hate them for that. I think it would be silly to hate stuff about your pet, otherwise why have them?

 

 

As for what my pets hate, well that could be a long list. Flynn doesn’t like drinking from water bowls. He likes us to turn on the bathroom sink for him. Delilah only likes a certain, softer side of the blanket to be face up for her to lay on and it must be positioned perfectly. They don’t like when we take too long to put their food on the floor for them to eat. They’re not a fan of us moving when they are laying on us. How dare we get up to drink, eat or use the bathroom? They have a 20 hour nap to take. The list could go on and on…

So, there is my challenge for today, now here’s my Friday training update: I’m just getting back into the swing of things. Tuesday was my first “official” workout (if you don’t count shoveling snow) since Saturday, 2/21. I’ve had a horrid cold with an awful cough and when it’s in the lungs, there’s no way I’m pushing my body so I rested. And rested some more. And some more. I still have the cough now, but am trying to slowly work my way back. Let me tell you that Tuesday’s run was horrible. I felt like a beginner runner again.

 

 

I didn’t do anything on Thursday because snow screwed everything up again with about another 8 inches. I had kind of a down day anyway and just wanted to curl up under the covers. I plan on trying to get in a run after work today so hopefully the week will pick back up again. I really need to get my shit together again. I was on a streak and this being sick really put a damper on things.

I need a song that pumps me up and there’s not really anything more epic than this on my playlist…

31 Day Blog Challenge – Day 4

 

#4 – What are you afraid of?

 

 

My biggest fear is failure. Right behind it would be falling.

I always put a lot of pressure on myself to do everything perfectly and when I’m not able to, it is very upsetting. I’ve been trying to be better about it and just try my best, but I’ve found myself retreating from things that I don’t think I’ll do well just so I won’t fail. That’s not really any way to enjoy life, but I’m working on it.

Falling has always been a huge fear of mine as well. People would say I’m afraid of heights, but I really don’t think it is that. If I’m up in a skyscraper, I can look down, out, etc and not have an issue, if I’m enclosed and safe. If you have me climb a cargo net in an OCR, that’s a different story. I’m not roped in, enclosed, not safe…so I feel terrified climbing it.
